Dearborn Medical Marijuana Card Renewal Guide
Dearborn patients who want to keep their MMMP access active should renew before their registry card expires. Renewal helps keep the patient’s medical certification, state registration, and card information current with Michigan.
Why Dearborn Patients Should Renew Early
A Michigan medical marijuana card is not permanent. Dearborn patients who continue to need medical cannabis access should check the expiration date printed on their card and begin renewal before it becomes inactive. Starting early can help prevent a gap in program access.
What May Be Needed for Renewal?
The renewal process may include the following:
Updated physician review:
A Michigan-licensed physician, either an MD or DO, reviews the Dearborn patient’s current medical condition and determines whether the patient still qualifies for the MMMP.
Current documents:
Dearborn patients may need to provide updated proof of Michigan residency or identity, such as a Michigan driver’s license, Michigan state ID, or another accepted document. A new physician certification may also be required.
Renewal submission:
After certification is completed, the renewal application is submitted to the Michigan Medical Marijuana Program. Some eligible patients may renew online, while others may use a paper application.
State renewal payment:
Michigan charges a $40 renewal application fee. This fee does not include any separate physician evaluation or consultation charge.
MMMP review:
After submission, the MMMP reviews the renewal materials. If approved, the renewed registry card is mailed to the Dearborn patient.
How Long Is the Renewed Card Valid?
A renewed Michigan medical marijuana registry card is generally valid for two years. Dearborn patients should keep track of the updated expiration date so they know when the next renewal period is approaching.
What Is the Renewal Cost for Dearborn Patients?
The state renewal fee is $40. Dearborn patients should also expect a separate physician evaluation cost, which may vary depending on the doctor, clinic, or online provider.
